Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Managed Services division of the Travis Perkins Group as an Account Manager in the South East region primarily covering the North London and Northern Home Counties areas.


Managed Services provide contract solutions for local authorities and the housing community. We offer a bespoke service to suit the needs of the customer and are geared around bespoke contractual and operational solutions, fitting in with the network or branch facility they are supporting.

Reporting directly to the South East Regional Director, you will have responsibility for the ongoing strategic customer management of assigned Managed Services accounts. The focus includes development of strong client relationships across the breadth and depth of an organisation at a senior level. The role is also responsible for delivering cost effective value added services along with delivering and recording customer efficiency gains. These would cover areas such as product management, the social value act, asset management, incremental sales and IT links with allocated customers. The aim of this is to secure the accounts future through re-tender or extension.

Ensure that ‘high level’ initiatives (barriers to entry for competitors) such as IT integration, mobile working, van stock management, community investment, training and apprenticeships, CSR have a deliverable plan in place. Delivery of these initiatives will ensure margin is protected as there will be less focus on the price of materials.

Ensure that the Company meets all of its contractual obligations during the lifetime of the project, increasing the likelihood of contract extension at the point of re-tender.

Establish a ‘baseline’ of client performance measures at the start of the contract prior to partnering with TP and record the benefits of any value added initiatives and their effect on efficiencies and service levels.

Identify and deliver further sales opportunities with the client in particular sub contractor, planned, void, new build works. This includes the delivery of sales opportunities for other Group brands such as SBS, ToolHire, Wickes, etc.

Coordinate with and support the store / branch network at TPMS customer supply locations

To be successful in this role you will need to be an excellent communicator and have the ability to relate to a broad spectrum of individuals. You will need to be customer focused, a problem solver, a good negotiator, have sound commercial awareness, be numerate and organised. Previous experience in business development/account management would be highly beneficial.
